Instructions
1. Use a piece of string to ascertain the length of fabric required for draping the ceiling. Tape the string to the center of the ceiling or the edge of the central light fixture. Drape the string to the top of a wall and tape it in place, then allow the string to fall the length of the wall to the floor. When you're happy with the effect, remove the string and measure it. If the room is square, one piece of string will give you the measurement for the fabric all around the room, as each length of fabric will be the same measurement. If the room isn't square, use a different piece of string from the center of the ceiling to each separate wall, to ascertain the different lengths of fabric required.
2. Cut panels of a suitable draping fabric such as tulle, gossamer or shimmera to the correct lengths. Using a staple gun, attach the first panel to either the center of the ceiling or the central light fixture. Drape the fabric loosely from the ceiling to the tops of the walls and staple them in place. Allow the rest of the fabric to cascade down the walls to the floor. Repeat this process with the rest of the fabric until the ceiling and walls are completely covered.
3. Moroccan lamps feature a range of colors and materials.
Attach a Moroccan-style lamp to the central light fixture.
4. Scatter Persian-style rugs all over the floor and add large floor cushions to the room in a range of jewel-tone colors such as emerald green, sapphire blue, amethyst purple and ruby red. In a bedroom, pile cushions and throws made of intricately-patterned fabric onto the bed. In a living room, do the same to sofas and chairs, or for a really authentic look, use floor cushions and bean bag sofas instead of traditional sofas and armchairs.
5. Use a wrought iron accent table to display tabletop accessories.
Select rich wood furniture that's low to the ground and features intricately carved embellishments. Moroccan-style furniture often features mosaic tiles, such as mosaic tiled tabletops. Wrought iron is another feature in Moroccan style, so look for pieces that combine wrought iron and mosaic tile detail for a really authentic vibe.
