Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa, the Five-Star, Five-Diamond and all-inclusive property, is located in Nassau at Cable Beach. According to Frommer's website, the Sandals Royal Bahamian Hotel & Spa is the "most upscale Sandals resort in the world." It is a favorite for honeymooning couples and is an adults-only resort (18 years and over). The posh retreat is elegantly decorated in Edwardian style and has neoclassical and Palladian architecture.
Environment
The 405-room resort sits on 13 private acres. Guest rooms are located in the Manor House, the main building or the 1998 Windsor Building. The Royal Village contains villas with plunge pools and private settings, some with views of the ocean or Sandals Cay, a sand spit. Easy access to Cable Beach doesn't require climbing up or down stairs.
The Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa has its own private island, Sandals Cay, only a half mile away via complimentary shuttle boat. The Cay offers two powdery white-sand beaches, a large swimming pool with swim-up bar, a seafood restaurant and a spa.
Accommodations
Luxury rooms and suites are well appointed with formal English furniture, including king-size four-poster beds. Some suites have terraces with wrought iron railings overlooking the ocean. Rooms may surround a lushly landscaped garden, overlook the pool or face the ocean. Wi-Fi service is available in the public areas of the hotel, and some in-room wired connections are available. Butler service is available at an extra charge with some of the suites. Room rates range from deluxe to expensive but include dining, alcoholic beverages and anytime snacks.
Restaurants
Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa features nine on-site restaurants and nine bars, including two swim-up bars. Cuisines offered include local Bahamian, Asian, French, English, Mediterranean, Italian, and U.S. southwestern grilled specialties at Arizona's. Spices is a buffet open for three-meals a day. Advance reservations are necessary at the Baccarat Dining Room, which offers white-glove service.
Activities
Guests can enjoy the full-service spa with three cold and hot plunge pools on Sandals Cay. The health club offers daily fitness classes, cardio machines and weight-lifting equipment. Non-motorized water sports are free to resort guests and include kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving and windsurfing. Golf is also available for additional fees.
Insider Tip
On Cable Beach, between the resort's two piers, are hammocks located on a rocky shelf with small private beaches at each end of the shelf. Above the beach is a secluded soaking spa for 24 people with a view of the ocean.
