Make Shiny Houseplant Leaves

Keep the leaves of your houseplant looking supple and shiny.

Houseplants add a touch of nature to a home, and they also provide color, texture and visual interest. Like furniture, knickknacks and other decor, plants get dusty and dull. When properly cared for, smooth-leafed plants actually shine, reflecting light and making your plant look fresh and healthy. Keep your plant's leaves shiny by taking care of them as you would with any home decor accent. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Gently dust the leaves of the plant with a feather duster or grabber. Do not break or bend the leaves.

2. Stick your hands into two clean, cotton socks or cloths.

3. Dampen the end of the sock or cloth in lukewarm water. Squeeze out excess water.

4. Sandwich each leaf between your sock-donned palms or the two cotton cloths. Gently slide the socks or cloths down the leaf to clean both the top and underside. Do this once a week.
