Install laminate flooring yourself.
The decision to go with laminate flooring in your home is a practical and attractive one. Laminate flooring gives the appearance of real hardwood floors yet it is much more durable and easier to clean. Unlike hardwood floors, laminate flooring is much more resilient against falling objects and other wear and tear, plus spills and stains are easily mopped up with a damp sponge or rag. Laminate flooring comes in numerous "wood" designs, including light birch, and as such requires darker room furnishings and decor pieces for attractive room contrast. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Use dark-colored furniture on light birch laminate flooring. The dark colors will contrast nicely against the light-colored flooring; go for black leather furniture or dark-colored wooden furniture, though any dark furniture pieces may be utilized. The light color of the flooring will also help reduce the severity of some dark furniture, such as black leather.
2. Put down a few dark-hued area rugs to add further contrast to your light birch laminate flooring. Use oriental rugs featuring deep red, maroon or blue tones, or go for solid-colored rugs in dark colors, such as deep purple or royal blue. Space the rugs at least 2 to 4 feet away from each other to avoid covering up too much of the flooring.
3. Use room accessories and decor pieces in dark hues, such as floor lamps with wrought iron bases or large wooden planters featuring rich, dark colors. Any floor pillows used should feature rich, dark hues, which will also make stains less noticeable than if using light-colored pillows.Umbrella stands used on light-colored laminate flooring should also feature dark colors.
