While most wooden and cast aluminum furniture may be left outside all year long, it is often best to store cushions in a clean, dry area for the winter to avoid freezing and cracking, mold and mildew. Light aluminum and plastic furniture varies widely in quality and durability. Some light aluminum chairs may bend or collapse under an overweight adult or child. Plastic chairs may become brittle if left outdoors year around and splinter or break.
