Wrought iron can provide a great look for your walkway.
Wrought iron fences are often short accent fences used more for decorative purposes or for retaining fences. You often see wrought iron fences attached to the top of concrete retaining walls or to concrete steps. If you look at the base of the wrought iron fence, you will see mounting brackets that secure the wrought iron to the concrete. This makes installing the fence easy. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Place wrought iron fence mounting brackets onto the end of each post on the bottom of the wrought iron fence. In many cases, the mounting bracket has a setscrew that holds the bracket in place. Tighten the setscrew lightly to hold the brackets.
2. Put the wrought iron fence in place and mark the mounting location of each mounting bracket on the concrete. Once marked, remove the mounting brackets and place the fence off to the side.
3. Place the mounting bracket on the marked location on the concrete and mark the center hole in the bracket. This marks the location where you need to drill into the concrete.
4. Drill a hole into the concrete with a hammer drill equipped with a masonry bit. Use a bit that measures the correct diameter for the masonry anchors you plan to use.
5. Drive the masonry anchors into the holes so the anchors rest flush with the surface of the concrete.
6. Place the mounting brackets over the anchors and secure the brackets to the anchors with the screws supplied with the anchors. A screwdriver works to drive the screws into the anchors.
7. Place the wrought iron fence into the mounting brackets and tighten all the setscrews on the mounting brackets with the screwdriver.
