Clean Dish Racks


After taking the time to hand wash dishes, you want to ensure you are placing them on a clean dish rack for drying. Due to the water leaking from the dishes, dish racks are an optimal breeding ground for mold and mildew. Weekly cleaning can help prevent it from forming. If it does form, ensure that you disinfect the dish rack and kill all mold and mildew. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


General Cleaning


1. Fill a sink with water as hot as you can stand and add a squirt of liquid dish soap.


2. Add the dish rack to the soapy water. Allow it to soak for a couple of minutes.


3. Lift the dish rack so it is slightly above the soapy water. Dip a sponge in the water and rub on the rack for cleaning.


4. Drain the water from the sink. Rinse the dish rack under cool running water to remove soap residue.


5. Dry the rack with a towel. This prevents the growth and spread of mold and mildew.


Remove Mold and Mildew


6. Fill your sink with warm water. Add 1/4 cup household bleach for every gallon of water.


7. Submerge the dish rack in the bleach and water. Allow the rack to soak for twenty minutes.


8. Use a soft cloth to wipe down the rack and remove any remaining mold and mildew.


9. Drain the water from the sink. Rinse the dish rack under cool, running water.


10. Use a towel to dry the dish rack.
