There's simply no quick fix when it comes to repairing the paint on wrought iron furniture.
When the correct type of paint is applied to wrought iron furniture, the finish should never peel or chip. Instructions
1. Lay the wrought iron furniture on top of a heavy-duty fabric drop-cloth.
2. Remove any loose or peeling paint by scraping it with a wire brush. Do not just concentrate on the obvious areas. Run the wire brush across areas that look smooth to see if additional paint peels up.
3. Smooth any rough areas of paint using 80- to 120-grit sandpaper.
4. Apply blue painter's tape to any areas you do not want painted.
5. Spray etching primer onto the wrought iron furniture. Apply only a thin coat to prevent runs or drips. Allow the etching primer to dry and cure for four hours.
6. Apply an oil-based paint using a 2-inch oil-based paintbrush. Apply only a thin coat. Allow the surface to dry for two hours, and then apply at least one more coat.
