Romantic Restaurants In Milwaukee

Although Milwaukee, Wisconsin remains synonymous with German beer halls, breweries and bratwurst eateries, the city also plays host to its share of romantic restaurants. Milwaukee features a collection of gourmet establishments, some of which provide views of the region's Great Lake, boast fireplaces to stay warm during the brutal winters and offer a sampling of fine international wines.

The Pasta Tree

Situated in Milwaukee's East Side neighborhood, the Pasta Tree offers an interior reminiscent of a European cafe. The ornate setting features etched glass light fixtures, embossed white ceiling tiles and black and white marble floor tile. The restaurant also features a wine bar outfitted with a fireplace and a garden patio filled with fresh flowers, fountains, hanging lanterns, white linen table cloths and wrought iron chairs. In 2010, viewers of the WISN 12 News named the Pasta Tree the most romantic restaurant in Milwaukee. The menu features Italian cuisine, including such dishes as fettuccini alfredo, shrimp pesto linguini and cheese tortellini, partnered alongside a wide selection of white and red wines.

Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro

Set along the edge of Milwaukee's sprawling Lake Park, Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro offers panoramic views of Lake Michigan from the main dining hall. The decor includes tassel-covered chandeliers, cozy floral covered booths, high ceilings, French artwork on the walls and a wooden and marble bar, while French accordion music helps set a romantic mood. The menu serves up a collection of French dishes, including such items as escargot, baked onion soup, filet mignon and roasted duck in red wine sauce. The brunch menu features three-courses, including dessert. Romantic diners can share such treats as crepes, fruit sorbets and creme brulee.

La Merenda

Located in Milwaukee's trendy Walker's Point neighborhood, La Merenda resides within a former woodworking shop. The restaurant features a relaxed yet elegant setting complete with brightly colored walls, candles, strung decorative white lights and wood furnishings. The menu offers a variety of small plate samples ideal for sharing, including such international dishes as ahi tuna cerviche, Jamaican jerk trout, spare ribs quesadillas and duck confit crepes. The large wine menu features selections from Spain, New Zealand, Argentina and California. Guests may also enjoy sipping a glass of sangria alongside a meal.
