Decorate Wine Rooms

Transform your wine room into a sophisticated respite.

Decorate your wine room with a sophisticated style. Use the Tuscany or Napa Valley wine regions as inspiration when choosing the color scheme and decor pieces. Infuse the space with fabrics, hues and elements inspired by nature for a casually elegant look. Show the refined space off during small wine-tasting parties, or use the room as a place to relax and unwind. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Paint the room's walls with a rich, earthy tone for an Old World style. Splash the walls with a deep plum, pomegranate red, terracotta orange or olive green color. The hues will also complement stone wall accents.

2. Add soft lighting elements to give the space a warm glow. Hang wrought iron walls sconces featuring scrollwork details. Suspend a crystal chandelier in the center of the room for an elegant look. Place wine-scented candles on side tables and shelves.

3. Install an oak or mahogany wine bar to hold bottles, glasses and accessories. Display opulent crystal decanters, a chrome cocktail shaker, a wine aerator and other barware. Hang wine glasses on a rack overhead for convenience. Complete the bar with a mini refrigerator for chilling wine and storing cheese and other snacks.

4. Add warmth to wood floors with a large area rug. Choose a rug featuring a Tuscan landscape or vineyard scene. Pick a floor covering with shades of ivory, taupe and earth tones to complement the wall color.

5. Set up a table on which to hold intimate wine gatherings or dinner parties. Choose an oak or mahogany table and comfortable, leather-upholstered chairs. Use a vase filled with flowers as a fresh centerpiece.

6. Decorate with a wrought iron or wood wine rack displaying your favorite bottles. Depending on how many wine bottles you want to display, choose a rack with as few as four or as many as 100-plus slots.
