Steel Fence Parts

Chain-link fences are often made from steel.

Steel fences range between chain-link fences and steel fences with vertical and lateral cross beams which have been welded together to create a more solid fence line. A handful of parts are needed to make these steel fences stand up solidly on their own, and gates are also necessary to allow people to enter and exit with ease. Does this Spark an idea?

Line Rail Clamps

Line rail clamps connect the metal bars which create the framework for a chain-link fence. These metal bars run around the outside of the chain-link fence itself, as well as running vertically and horizontally along the chain link to make the fence stand up solidly. These line rail clamps are bolted together on four sides, creating a solid frame for the rest of the steel fence.

Steel Dome Caps

Pipes that make up the frame of a steel chain-link fence are often open on the top and require a cover to keep rainwater from accumulating inside of them or insects from using them for their nests. These steel caps are sold in a variety of sizes meant to fit the size of the steel pipe frame.

Hinges

On gates for steel fences, hinges are needed to allow a section of the gate to open and close easily. These hinges are made out of steel so that they don't rust or corrode over time and continue to open and close without resistance. Depending on the design of the steel fence, the hinges are designed like common flat door hinges or hinges that clamp around the frame of the gate and the frame of the fence, connecting the two by bolts which allow each side of the clamp to swing back and forth.

Tension Bars

Tension bars are often run diagonally across a square stainless steel fence frame to give the chain link added strength. These tension bars are often made out of solid galvanized steel and are heavy and thick for their size. Attach these to the steel frame of the fence itself with steel wire or small screws or bolts.
