A Wrought Iron Fence in the Front Yard

If you have ever strolled through an older neighborhood you have probably noticed some Victorian-style houses with wrought iron fences outlining the front yard, creating an elegant frame for both the lawn and the house. A wrought iron fence in the front yard is an excellent way draw out all the other aspects of the front of your house. These fences are generally no higher than 3 ft., as they are not designed for security; rather, they are designed to become an ornamental part of your yard.

Another front yard idea is to add a wrought iron fence on both sides of a walkway that leads from your front door to either the street or your driveway. This is an excellent way to frame the entrance to your home. If your are looking to highlight the borders of your front yard garden beds, run some fencing along the front edge of the beds wrapping around to either end of the house. If you happen to cross a walkway, this is an excellent spot for a wrought iron gate, which in turn will enhance the look of the wrought iron fence.

A Wrought Iron Fence in the Backyard

When it comes to the backyard, a wrought iron fence will not only provide an elegant look, but it will provide security as well. Wrought Iron fencing is available in a number of heights from 3 ft. all the way up to 8 ft. This is a perfect way to fence in your entire backyard or just a portion that may contain a deck, patio, swimming pool or some other outdoor living space. If you are fencing in your entire yard, you will probably want to go with at least a 6 ft. fence, as this will provide ample security as well as dramatically frame out your property lines. If you just wish to fence in a portion of your backyard, then a 4 ft. or 5 ft. fence would be a perfect height, as this will provide enough height to secure the area, especially if you have a pool. If you go any higher, you may actually detract from the look of the enclosed living space. Having a few wrought iron gates incorporated into the fencing is an excellent way to not only provide access to the backyard, but to create a grand entrance into your outdoor living space.

A Wrought Iron Fence in the Garden

If you are looking to create a more formal look to your gardens, a wrought iron fence is an excellent way to highlight your plantings. While the fence can be used as a border for garden beds that run along the house, another idea is to use a wrought iron fence to frame out any gardens that are located within the yard. Whether it is a flower or vegetable garden, a wrought iron fence is a perfect way to add a formal and elegant touch. Once again, the height of the fence should be no more than 3 ft. feet, as you want to accent the garden, not overwhelm it. Creating an entrance gate along with a walkway through the garden is an excellent finishing touch to the overall look.
