Decorate With Candle Sconces

Candle sconces provide soft light to a room.

Candles add a romantic, soft touch to any room. If you’re a fan of candles, but don’t want to go with your typical candle arrangements, consider getting candle sconces for your room. These candleholders for your wall come in a variety of styles and materials. They also provide soft light to your room that’s particularly appropriate for dinner parties and other intimate get-togethers. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a wall that you’d like to make your focal point wall. Some walls work better for this than others. For example, a wall that features your fireplace and mantle is an excellent choice. Another appropriate choice would be a large wall without any windows breaking it up.

2. Paint the wall on which you’d like to feature the candle sconce display. Select a color that complements the rest of the d cor in the room. Consider only painting that wall. The sconce display will stand out more. Additionally, some colors, like red or purple, would look very dramatic once the candles were lit.

3. Look for sconces with accessories, like mirrors or towel hooks, to add visual balance to your display. These types of displays work well in smaller spaces, like your entryway or bathroom, where space is at a premium.

4. Select long-burning, colorful candles for your display. If you’ve opted to paint the wall, choose candles in complementary or contrasting colors. This makes the candles really stand out. Depending on the type of glass bulbs featured on your sconces, you can also look for candles with designs on them.

5. Choose sconces with interesting glass bulbs. Many styles exist, from clear glass to thick, colored glass. Make sure the style fits the rest of the d cor in your room.

6. Look for connected sconce displays for a variation on the look. These types of sconces either look like a candelabra for your wall or are connected to one another by chains. Additionally, elaborate sets often feature single sconces, multisconce units and matching accessories.

7. Remember to purchase some complementary artwork. While the sconces will be a major part of the display, it should have a focal point. A beautiful oil painting featuring a pastoral scene or still life gives you a center point on which to build. Once you find this piece of art, display the sconces around it.

8. Pull the display together by adding matching candles to the fireplace mantle or a table situated below the sconce display. This unifies the look.
