Purchase Outdoor Patio Furniture

It's that time of year again. Time to sit out on your patio in the evenings with a glass of ice tea, to eat al fresco and to entertain around the barbeque. If your patio furniture is looking faded and getting creaky, perhaps it's time to shop for new patio furniture. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Purchase Outdoor Patio Furniture

1. Assess the space you have on your back deck or patio. You don't want to have a clutter of furniture out there and it's easy to get carried away with matching bakers racks, side tables, rolling bars and serving tables. If you want the flexibility of enough furniture to seat a lot of guests, consider some folding chairs that can be brought out when needed.

2. Think about how you use the space. If you spend a lot of evenings entertaining and cooking out for family and friends, you'll need a variety of comfortable seating and tables. If you mainly use the patio for sunning yourself or sitting outside for quiet time, focus more on comfortable lounge chairs or gliders. Poolside furniture needs to be comfortable, light colored and especially durable.

3. Match the style of the furniture to your home's architectural style. Victorian style homes lend themselves to wicker or fanciful wrought iron, while a 1950's rambler will be nicely accented by more retro styled patio furniture. Browse catalogs and online stores and check the selection at furniture and home and garden stores. Don't forgo comfort for the sake of ultra-cool looking furniture but you have a lot of choices beyond molded plastic and aluminum tubing.

4. Choose a variety of seating options if you plan on entertaining. Double love seats or gliders for romantic couples, lounges and wide comfortable chairs for people who enjoy lying back and spreading out, straight backed comfy chairs for eating and pulling up to a table. Plan on having at least a couple of side tables for entertaining. And don't forget little chairs for the children!

5. Consider extras like bakers racks for displaying plants or setting out drinks, rolling carts for food service and storage chests that double as seating.

6. Buy an umbrella for shade if that is an option for your favorite table style. Most circular tables come with umbrellas in a wide range of fabrics, which can be particularly useful on bright sunny days.
