Add privacy with window shades
You can cover your window shades to make them match the color of your curtains. Use the same fabric as your curtains, sheets or a complementary fabric. The directions are fairly simple if you use new window shades, fabric, fusible interfacing and fabric glue instead of sewing.
Instructions
Cover a Window Shade
1. Measure the width of the window shade and cut the fusible interfacing the same size.
2. Cut the width of the fabric the same size as the shade plus 4 inches. Measure the length of the window and add 12 inches. Cut the fabric length the same size.
3. Center the fabric over the fusible interfacing with the paper side facing outward. Iron according to directions on the paper side of the fusible webbing to adhere the interfacing to the fabric. Then peel off the paper.
4. Fold the edge of the fabric 2 inches under on each side and use the fabric glue to adhere the hem.
5. Use a small amount of fabric glue to adhere the fabric to the original shade on the side that will be visible in your home. Staple the fabric to the shade pole.
6. Hang the shade so that the side with the fabric is showing.
Tips Warnings
Be sure not to use too much fabric glue when adhering the fabric to the window shade so that the fabric will appear smooth.
