Prairie Decorating Ideas With Wrought Iron

Prairie-style homes were popularized by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Prairie-style houses were popularized through Frank Lloyd Wright, whose design featured a central chimney, open spaces and intentionally blurring interior structures and the outside terrain. The "Robie House" in Chicago's Hyde Park is a famous example of one of Wright's prairie-style houses. If you love the prairie-style home and you also love wrought iron, you can incorporate both as long as you keep your lines and decorating simple and minimal. Does this Spark an idea?

Wright Lamp

Purchase a wrought-iron lamp that has an iron base and a stained glass shade in the simple, blocked style Frank Lloyd Wright is known for. You can recognize these shades because they have simple, vertical and horizontal lines that form boxes. Some boxes are filled with color while others are not.

Wright Fireplace Screen

Purchase a wrought-iron or wrought-iron like fireplace screen for your fireplace. Like the Wright lampshade, the fireplace screen will feature three panels of simple lines that form blocks and diamonds.

Wrought-Iron Keys

Decorate an entire wall in your home with wrought-iron or other antique cellar key7s. You can hang the keys on walls or you can frame them individually. Another idea is to hang them like ornaments on an indoor tree with fairly sturdy branches.

Umbrella Stand

Welcome guests into your prairie-style home with a wrought-iron umbrella stand. Umbrella stands often also serve as a coat rack, and with this, they evoke a welcoming aura for your guests to come in and stay for a while. Place a few hats that evoke the 1900s on the hat hooks on the umbrella stand to further carry forth the Wright theme.
