Things To See In La Porte Texas At Christmas Time

Celebrate Christmas in La Porte.


La Porte, Texas, sees a number of Christmas activities during the holiday season, which draw in residents and tourists alike. Interactive activities for both children and adults, as well as Christmas shopping at sales run by locales, are some of the most popular items to see in La Porte during this time of year. Christmas on Main Street


La Porte hosts an annual Christmas celebration on Main Street. Features of the event include children's entertainment, appearances by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, and choir, orchestra and band performances. Children and adults can also go tubing down the hill located off of Main Street on North 1st Street, which will be covered with snow. As night falls, the residents and visitors gather around to see the lighting of the Christmas tree, which is usually performed by the Mayor, Santa Claus and a special guest or two.


Christmas Bazaar


Residents and visitors to La Porte can either stop by the Christmas Bazaar or rent a table in order to sell their own goods and items. The dates and times vary by year, although it is usually held in early December all day on a Saturday.The sale booths consist of arts, crafts, new items and odds and ends. Food and drinks are not permitted unless you buy the refreshments and beverages sold at the bazaar.


Home For The Holidays


Nearby Old Town Spring hosts an annual Christmas celebration. The event lasts for two weeks and includes shopping, music by barbershop quartets and other singers, pictures with Santa Claus, train rides, tours of the museums and horse and carriage rides. Old Town Spring will also be decorated for the Christmas season. There is a special tree lighting ceremony and before the actual lighting, the local museum hosts children's activities and entertainment, along with special visits from Santa Claus.
