Affordably convert your full-size iron bed to a queen.

When you want to trade in your full-size mattress for a queen, you don't have to throw out your iron bed frame: A converter is available. Bed frame converters are much more affordable than buying a new bed altogether, and they are easy to use. Iron bed frame converters are sold at major retail bedding stores and online. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Determine if the side rails of the full bed frame are hooked or bolted to the headboard and the footboard. Some side rails hook directly onto the headboard and footboard, while others use nuts and bolts.

2. Purchase a full-to-queen bed converter online or at a bedding store according to what type of frame you have. Some converters come with both hooks and bolts.

3. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for replacing the old side rails with the converter rails. Hook or bolt the converter rails to the headboard and the footboard. Adjust the L brackets to fit the queen-size box spring.

4. Adjust and secure the center support leg before placing the queen box spring on the converted frame. Place the box spring on the frame.

5. Place the queen mattress on top of the box spring.
