Choose A Daybed

Colorful pillows add comfort and style to your daybed.

Daybeds resemble a sofa with a deep seat. They are an excellent way to provide extra seating and a place to sleep in game rooms, dens or other areas that you use for a spare bedroom when you have company. Daybeds give a studio apartment look to a regular bedroom and are perfect for a college student or teen who enjoys entertaining friends in her room. It also is a viable option for small bedrooms. Choosing a daybed to match your existing furnishings is not a complicated endeavor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Look at the other furniture in the room where you want to use the daybed. Match the style of the daybed to the style of the room. Daybed frames come in wrought iron, French country, wicker, brass, wood and other styles to match any decor. Coordinating the styles gives balance and unity to the room.

2. Pick a daybed with a wood frame to match the other wood furnishings in the room. For instance, a dark cherry daybed would not coordinate well with light oak wood.

3. Sit on the daybed to dry out the mattress. Many daybeds act as a sofa during the day and as a sleeping area at night. Choose the best quality mattress you can afford to provide comfortable seating as well as a place to sleep at night.
