Decorate A Chic Kitchen

Chic style is a form of decorating also known as "shabby chic." This style denotes a casual, comfortable atmosphere. Decorating in the shabby chic style involves the use of quality second-hand items, which can make this type of decorating a little easier on your budget. Instructions


1. Shop thrift stores and garage sales for antique items such as coffeepots, dishes and furniture. Look for items that are of a good quality and that project an interesting, cozy character.


2. Use white lace or small floral patterns for your window treatments.


3. Cover your chairs in your kitchen with slightly faded floral upholstery.


4. Paint your cabinets white. Look for items for your kitchen that have a distressed paint finish as well.


5. Remove the doors from some of your upper-level cabinets and use them to display dishes, bowls and vases.


6. Display a vase of fresh-cut flowers or a bowl of pine cones and small branches on the table or counter.
