Decorate An Iron Bakers Rack

Enhance a baker's rack with green plants.

Use a wrought iron baker's rack to fill in an empty kitchen corner and as a convenient storage option. A wrought iron baker's rack will give your kitchen a casual, rustic flair. If you bought an antique rack because you liked the design but aren't sure what to do with it, enhance it with plants, decorative items and cooking necessities. If you love to bake, keep the rack close at hand and fill it with basics such as mixing bowls and measuring cups. You can also decorate a baker's rack with textiles, vintage pieces and collectibles. Does this Spark an idea?

1. Wrap a green ivy vine around the top of the rack and allow it to drape down for a country-inspired look. Weave a faux vine in between the wrought iron rack's curved frame. Accent the shelves with terra cotta pots filled with green plants; be sure to place saucers under the pots to catch water drips.

2. Add baskets for storage. Place one or two rectangular brown or white wicker baskets on one of the rack's shelves. Fill the baskets folded cloth napkins, extra dish towels, extra cutlery, paper plates and jars of jam and jelly.

3. Display a collection. Place vintage wine bottles featuring interesting, decorative labels across the rack's top shelf. Show off antique china plates in holders on a rack shelf.

4. Store baking and cooking necessities on the rack. Take advantage of the extra space by filling rack shelves with attractive pots and pans, measuring cups, glass mixing bowls, a roasting pan, spices and ceramic jars of spoons and spatulas.

5. Hang decorative towels and linens from the side of the iron baker's rack. Choose textiles featuring a hue or pattern the coordinates with the overall kitchen color scheme or design theme. Pick a towel featuring a embroidered rooster design for a French country-inspired kitchen or a red and white gingham-checked linen for vintage farmhouse appeal.
