Choose Outdoor Patio Furniture

If you are planning some family picnics and outdoor gatherings at your home this summer, you'll need some outdoor patio furniture. There are many different types, shapes, sizes and colors of patio furniture. You can get a square table that seats four, a round table for six with a huge umbrella, and even lounge chairs to boot. This article will show you choose your outdoor patio furniture. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Figure out your budget. If you have a large budget, you have endless options for your patio furniture, including expensive teak for a wooden set of furniture. If your budget is really tight, you can still get nice outdoor furniture, but you will be limited to something less expensive such as tubular aluminum.

2. Look at the landscape of your yard. If you have a small space for the patio furniture, you will need to consider the size. You can't have a huge table for 10 with an enormous umbrella if you have a tiny area in between your house and your neighbor's as the space for your patio furniture. If you have a larger space, you could pick a table with no umbrella, and then get a large canopy for over the table to give shade.

3. Determine how many people will sit at the table. If you are buying a table, figure out how many will use it at once. You may have a family of five, but know that often your three neighbors will join you. Consider this when deciding on the table and seating options.

4. Determine your luxury level, and how the outdoor patio furniture will be used. If you plan to have romantic evenings with your spouse all summer long, you might want something elegant. If your kids will be eating hot dogs and hamburgers on the patio furniture, you can choose something more basic and durable.

5. Decide on the type of material. You could pick teak, which would be incredibly durable. Plan to spend $1000 or more if you go with this option. You'll need to determine if you want cushions on the chairs. Decide on the table top, such as a glass top or plastic. If you go with glass, know that a storm knocking over the table could break the glass.

6. Decide on a color theme. Look at the rest of your yard and your patio. Make sure the patio furniture works well with other colors in your yard. If you have all white flowers and a gray patio, you could choose white wicker patio furniture. Or maybe you want bright colors to spice up a dull looking yard.

7. Choose the options you wish to have. This would include an umbrella, a canopy, table and chairs. You could also include an outdoor fireplace. Some tables actually come with a built in fireplace in the middle! In addition to the table and chairs, you might wish to have lounging chairs and a small coffee table to place drinks and magazines. If you really want to go all out, you could get an outdoor sofa and matching chairs.
