Paint Metal Plant Stands

Metal plant stands are beautiful, with their intricate twists and turns, but their intended use makes them prone to rust. Rust, chips and fading on your metal plant stand ruin the striking effect. You can fix all of these with a quick coat of paint. The paints that are available specifically for metal with rust inhibitors built in make your job easy and will make your plant stand attractive again.

Instructions

Paint Metal Plant Stands

1. Prepare your plant stand for paint by first washing it with a mild detergent and water mix. Then using a wire brush remove any loose paint and rust. Use your sandpaper to smooth any surface conditions. Rinse your plant stand and allow it to dry completely.

2. Spray your metal plant stand with the primer following the primer manufacturer's recommendation and allowing time between coats for the primer to dry completely. Two coats of primer will help you to seal the metal surface and prevent rusting from normal use and watering.

3. Paint your metal plant stand by spraying two light coats of paint to all of the exposed surfaces. Light coats of paint dry quickly, so catch any drips quickly. Move around the plant stand yourself rather than turning the plant stand to avoid finger prints or smears on your finish.
