Care For Monkey Pod Wood

Care for Monkey Pod Wood

Monkey pod wood, also known as Acacia wood, is a durable and naturally resinous hardwood that is harvested from fast-growing Acacia trees. People have recognized the value of monkey pod wood since biblical times; it is mentioned in the book of Exodus as the material that was used to construct the Ark of the Covenant. Today, monkey pod wood is often used to make fine natural furniture and tableware. Proper care of your monkey pod wood will help your wood retain its beauty for many years. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Keep monkey pod wood furniture out of direct sunlight to prevent the wood from drying out. Place patio furniture made of monkey pod wood under a tree, canopy or patio umbrella to protect the wood from harmful ultraviolet rays.

2. Wipe down the surface of your monkey pod wood furniture with a soft cloth that has been dampened in warm, soapy water, as needed, to remove any sticky spills. Allow your monkey pod wood furniture to air dry.

3. Treat monkey pod wood furniture with a wood preservative or furniture wax to seal the wood after cleaning, or as needed, to restore its shine. For best results, use wood preservative or furniture wax products according to package directions.

4. Cover patio furniture made of monkey pod wood during rainy or snowy weather to prevent the wood from warping due to excessive moisture.

5. Wash tableware made of monkey pod wood in warm, soapy water. Rinse the tableware under warm running water to wash away any bubbles. Place the monkey pod wood tableware in a dish rack and allow it to air dry.

6. Rub monkey pod wood tableware with a non-toxic mineral oil to restore its shine. Allow the mineral oil to soak into the wood completely before use.
