Decorate A Tuscan Bedroom

The Tuscan countryside conjures images of rolling hills, rustic farmhouses and weather-worn brick structures. Enhance your bedroom by using Tuscan-inspired materials, colors and decor details. Decorating your bedroom with a Tuscan flair will allow you to create a warm and relaxed space, without sacrificing elegance and sophistication. You can also celebrate your Italian heritage by decorating in a Tuscan style. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Add a rustic, natural look to your Tuscan-inspired bedroom by choosing wrought iron accessories. Choose black iron wall sconces and shelves. Look for furniture, such as a work desk and nightstand, featuring iron legs; buy a dresser with iron hardware. For an elegant touch, hang a wrought iron chandelier featuring electric lights or candles.

2. Create a Italian countryside vibe by choosing rough-hewn wood furniture. Buy a rustic dresser and nightstand set that could be found in a Tuscan farmhouse. If you prefer to use refined wood furniture items, choose dark cherry wood for an authentic look.

3. Add an elegant country flair to your bedroom by decorating with lace. Hang vintage lace curtains on your windows, and place lace doilies on your tables for a romantic touch.

4. Paint your bedroom walls an earthy, Tuscan shade. Choose hues that are inspired by nature, such as olive or sage green, rust orange, sunny yellow, rich plum or burgundy and chocolate brown. For a time-worn appearance, apply a colorwash in a similar shade over the dried basecoat; go over the wet colorwash with a firm, dry brush to create a natural, aged appearance on your walls.

5. If you are feeling artistic, use stencils to create a Tuscan-inspired mural on your bedroom walls. Light up your walls with Italian countryside views, such as rolling green hills, ivy-draped weathered brick walls, rows of grape vines and idyllic farmhouses. As an authentic touch, create the appearance of a rustic brick archway, looking into a patio filled with wrought iron tables, bowls of grapes and wine bottles. Use sponges and paint to make faux bricks and stones.

6. Take advantage of Tuscany's rich wine and grape-growing history by decorating your bedroom with green and purple tones. If you have neutral-toned walls, enhance them by hanging a border featuring grape vines. Create a warm ambiance by stringing mini grape-shaped lights around doorways, windows and around your headboard. Place a comforter featuring grapevine designs on your bed.
