Clean Decorative Railings

Wrought iron decorative railings are architecturally enhancing.


Distinguished by their extraordinary strength and ornamental appeal, wrought iron decorative railings add authentic aura to home interiors and exteriors. Wrought iron railings are prevalent on balconies and often used as window grilles, door panels, fences and balusters. Although low maintenance, wrought iron railings inevitably collect dust, oil and grime. Outdoor railings tend to accumulate bird droppings and other organic debris, as well. Regularly cleaning wrought iron decorative railings removes debris to preserve their aesthetic appeal. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Fill a plastic pail with plain water. Moisten an ordinary cleaning cloth in the water.


2. Wipe the cloth over the wrought iron railing to eliminate dust and other light debris fragments.


3. Refill the pail with 1 tsp. of liquid dish detergent and 1 gallon of clean water. Dampen a synthetic-bristle brush in the detergent solution.


4. Fill a second plastic pail with water to rinse the brush in.


5. Scrub the detergent solution over the entire wrought iron railing to remove attached debris and stains. Frequently rinse the synthetic-bristle brush in the pail of plain water as you clean the railing.


6. Spray the iron railing with water to rinse off detergent suds and loosened grime. Wipe fresh water over the wrought iron with a fresh cleaning cloth if the railing is indoors.


7. Let the wrought iron railing air-dry.
