Use Candles For Centerpieces

Use candles to enhance the dining experience.

Few things enhance a room or dining table as effectively and as inexpensively as candles. They can subtly alter the whole atmosphere of a room. You should always take care when using candles. They should not be left unattended. However, provided you take common sense safety precautions, there are many imaginative arrangements you can make. You can use candles in an austere and simple way, or you can mix them with flowers to create a dreamy sensuous atmosphere. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use simple, narrow, naturally colored candles on candle ring to create a center of light on the table. Cover the base of the ring with moss and decorate with leaves or flower petals. Alternatively, search junk shops for old-fashioned wrought metal candle holders, as these add simple elegance when teamed with white linen and gleaming cutlery.

2. Place glasses in pairs along the center of the table, but not in a straight line. Put about half an inch of water in each glass and place a tea light in each. Scatter a few rose petal in the glasses and along the center of the table. Alternatively, float several tea lights in a large glass bowl in the center of the table. Intersperse the tea lights with flower heads.

3. Place a circular mirror in the middle of the table. Stand five pillar candles on the mirror. Aim to use candles of different heights, but with a similar circumference. Drape some ivy around the edge of the glass. Alternatively, scatter white or silver confetti on the glass around the base of the candles.
