Remove Rust Stains From A Patio

Rust stains are a common problem on concrete patios. As lawn furniture and patio decorations are exposed to moisture, rust stains on patio concrete may result. Rust stains on concrete may be very stubborn to remove, but there are a number of techniques that should make your patio look like new again. Does this Spark an idea?

Getting Rid of Those Stains


1. Remove all patio furniture and decorations from the area around the rust stains.


2. Sweep and rinse the patio concrete. Make sure the area around the rust stain to be removed is clean and free of dirt and debris.


3. Pour vinegar or undiluted lemon juice generously over the rust stain. Allow the vinegar to soak into the stain for 15 to 20 minutes.


4. Brush with a stiff wire brush to remove the rust stain.


5. Rinse the area thoroughly with water.


6. Repeat the previous steps to remove stubborn rust stains.


7. Use a concrete cleaning product containing the ingredient oxalic acid for extremely stubborn rust stains.
