Wrought Iron Bathroom Decor

Wrought Iron Bathroom Decor

The most dramatic example of wrought iron bathroom décor may be the clawfoot tub. While the clawfoot tub certainly makes a statement, it's not the only way to go for folks who want to add some wrought iron charm to an often banal bathroom. Wrought iron bathroom décor can be much less ostentatious, or still be showy but make an entirely different type of statement. Does this Spark an idea?

Types

Basic black is the most common color of wrought iron accessories, but it is not the only one. Wrought iron is also available in a burnished copper color, silver or antique metal. Some have a hammered look for a textured effect. Wrought iron is also often thought of as being thin scrolls, swirls or other designs, but wrought iron bathroom décor is not limited to that look, either. The accessories are available in a variety of thicknesses, in straight or curved designs and can include an intermingling of colors and sizes in a single accessory.

Features

Wrought iron can be shaped, cut, banged and bent to create a wide variety of different shapes. Toilet paper and towel holders come with attached bears, hearts, flowers, birds, horses and coyotes. Plants, trees and insects, especially butterflies, are other popular wrought iron shapes. Since the wrought iron bathroom décor is metal, it is easy to clean from sloppy soap or other spills. Quality wrought iron bathroom décor will also be protected against rust either with a protective paint or other durable coating.

Function

Wrought iron bathroom décor can serve several functions or none at all other than looking good. Functional accessories include an array of toilet paper holders, towel racks, rings and holders, mirrors with decorative frames or stands, shelving units and bathroom vanities. Smaller décor can also be attached to a number of bathroom items, such as wrought iron faucets, knobs and cabinet or drawer pulls. Other wrought iron bathroom accessories are ornamental only. These include wall scrolls, candle holders and wall candle units and other wall hangings.

Effects

Wrought iron bathroom décor can transform a room with a few simple accessories. This type of décor will give the room a rustic, antique feel. Depending on the color and design of the décor, folks can mimic a Western look, complete with horseshoe-shaped toilet paper holders; a country living look, with wrought iron towel pegs and drawer knobs; or an elegant Victorian or French look with a bathroom adorned in large ornamental scrolls and decorative faucets and mirrors.

Considerations

Mixing two or more different types of wrought iron styles in a single bathroom is going to produce a chaotic look. The best bet is to go with an overall theme and stick with it. A rustic, wrought iron duck toilet paper holder will look very sad placed next to an elaborate scrolled candelabra. One exception, however, may be the wrought iron clawfoot tub. That décor is unique enough to hold its own when coupled with just about anything.
