Standards For The Width Between Bars On Iron Fence

Iron fencing keeps children safe.

The French Quarter in New Orleans is chockfull of wrought-iron fencing. Hollywood homes hide behind iron fencing in California, and pools have iron fences around them to protect small children and pets from drowning. However, when an iron fence is said to be a 100-year fence, it means it is made of 100 percent steel.

Nevertheless, wrought-iron fencing will stay strong against hurricane-force winds and may stop a runaway vehicle, or at least slow it down. It's important to note that wrought-iron fencing comes in all shapes and sizes, but knowing the space between the bars is essential. Does this Spark an idea?

Pool Fencing

A space between the vertical bars around a pool is 1 3/4 inches.

Standard Fencing

Iron fencing around private property has bar openings that run from 4 inches to 4 3/4 inches wide.
